About Me
Hi, I’m Oz. I’m the guy behind the chair, the blow-dryer, the foils, and now, this blog.
If you’ve ever sat in my chair, you know I don’t avoid the truth. I’ll tell you when your ends are fried, when your curls need moisture, and when TikTok is definitely misleading you. I want to help you understand your hair, not confuse you with chemistry terms or product jargon that sound like spells from the Harry Potter series.
Think of The Salon Notes as a place where I can talk to you the way I wish every stylist could talk to their clients: honestly, clearly, and with just enough humor to make learning easy.
A little about me:
I’ve been doing hair for over 20 years, working with every texture, curl pattern, and “help me, Oz” emergency you can imagine. When I’m not at the salon, I’m usually at home with my husband and our kids, juggling family life, wrestling practices, school drop-offs, book writing, and the occasional late-night dive into new hair techniques. And yes, I’m always learning. Hair never stands still, and neither do I.

This blog lets me share the same advice, tips, and truth I give in the salon chair, but now you don’t have to wait six weeks for your next appointment. We’ll talk about care, maintenance, products, tools, curly hair truths, and everything that makes your hair behave—or misbehave.
So welcome.
Grab a coffee.
Settle in.
